Nestled in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley, where agriculture roots run deep, lies Bakersfield Christian High School. A small private, school that is home to approximately 700 students whose diverse talents shine through in their award-winning educational and extracurricular programs. Among these outstanding programs is the FFA program.
Founded in 2013, the FFA program started with just 13 members offering three agriculture classes: Advanced Animal and Plant Science, Biology and Leadership. Since that day, the program has grown to over 175 dedicated members under the direction of a two-person department. In 2020, the Agriculture Department developed all-new curriculum and established a regimented four-year pathway for students to follow in Animal and Plant Sciences. The program now offers the following classes: Agriculture Food and Natural Resources, Sustainable Agriculture Biology, Veterinary Science, Ornamental Horticulture, Agricultural Business and Economics, Agricultural Government, Agricultural Mechanics, and Ag Business/Leadership.
The Tiny but Mighty program has since had Regional and Sectional Officers, State Officer Finalists, State Proficiency Finalists and winners, National Proficiency Finalist and 2 winners, State Nominating Committee members, State Committee Chairs, National FFA Convention Delegates, Small Engines Top 5 in the State with High Individuals, California State Finalists in Parliamentary Procedures, and has won many Sectional and Regional LDE and CDE competitions.
BCHS FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of its members by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education with a Christ-centered foundation.
